I did the last of the destination/Route No. lights today.
Took 2 hours to clean off all the old paint and rewire it.

Weather is a bit blustery today so I am in the shed.
Does anyone that is in the knowing, know what the colour of these forward running lights or parking light surrounds suppose to be.
The AEC above has them as black but they were cream inside.
Just wondering if they were cream at one stage.
I was painting these black but the spray paint reacted with the old paint underneath so that's the reason for stripping them back.
That's when I noticed the colour underneath.

Took all weekend to do 19 interior lights but now they are done.
I took apart the bakelite fitting and cleaned up the terminals and took the paint off the Bakelite.
Very slow going but now done.

Todays small job. I remade the back frame of these blinker light boxes because the old ones were bent and had that many holes that they were no longer weatherproof. Once again I cleaned up the bakelite fittings and rewired them.

Another small Job done. The tail light and the 2 front running lights or parking lights. I had to strip every last bit of old oil based paint of these things because the spray enamel was reacting with it. It acted like a paint stripper and the 2 different paints started to react with each other.
These rear tail light boxes are rare to find without being rusted out. This one had rust in the neck area on the left hand side of this picture. It was too thin to weld so I soldered up the holes. I wrapped a small piece of aluminium around the outside and soldered from the inside and let the solder pool up in the 3 small holes. I than took off the aluminium and cleaned of the excess solder and now it is very hard to spot. I used aluminium because solder wont stick to it.
