I found an older photo.
Not sure whether I posted it before.

Good old straightforward engineering.
No pretentious over sophisticated auxiliaries - should keep going forever.
In past few weeks in our garage we have TX taxis, around 2012, with Italian engines.
Super performers - but cleverly designed with rockers which will break if the cam belt does, to avoid major internal damage.
Trouble is the rockers break in normal service!
There is one engine, can’t remember which, which has thinner pushrods which will bend to avoid valves damaging pistons!
A better idea.
Mind you, getting 40 or 50 mpg is an undeniable benefit.
But I’m happy with 30mpg from a much older engine which I can easily maintain.
The most modern I get is the M47R engine in my Freelander, found in lots of Rovers too.
Great engineering but about 30 mpg.
