Well after 6 years the wheels have started to go back on for the big move but I think I have caused myself an injury.
The 2 front ones are back on and was doing the near side rear when it happened.
Needless to say I am writing this.
I was thinking ages ago about making a lifting jig and now I definitely will.

I hope you’re not out of action - yes these heavy wheels can be a pig!
The answer is jacking the axle up or down to the exact level of the stud holes and it does help to have a second pair of hands.
Hope you’re going to recover fast.
Graeme Knappick
Hope you're ok!

Bloody hell Brian Blunt! I have 4 of those bloody things. LOL.

I generally like donging my head when working on these things !

Meant to post this one Norman.
Wheel can be height adjusted and rotated to get studs to line up
Norman Julian
Where do you get these?

We got one about 10 years ago,
Can't remember where, but has been very useful

David Griffiths made one at Leichhardt.
But designed for use on flat surfaces.

I will struggle through with how I'm doing it now and I will make something up later on.

I got one of those torque multiplier wheel nut crackers.
It’s the best thing no swinging off a pipe to crack the wheel nuts and no 3/4 impact air gun required
Carle Gregory
as a truckie you get to know the way to put one of these on, did you use a "bar" to lever the wheel into position?.......you use your legs to get it near to the position and then use the bar to lever it onto the studs

There brutal to lift hey, i think a jig is an awesome idea .

15 years ago I took the spare which was up in the bus when I first got it and maneuvered down between the seats and out the door under complete control.
Now however it's a bit of a battle.

Norman Julian I got two spares when I was off in Griffith.
Was hard enough just getting them in the trailer.
I have no idea how I got the gearbox out on my own though...
I think sometimes these bus’s give us super human strength.

Something that I learnt today.
It's always a good day when you add to your collective knowledge.
I learnt that the wheels at the back are both the same.
I don't know why I did but I thought they were different from each other.
The reason I found out is because I wanted to put the inner wheels back on and not worry about the outers.
The bus is only going a short distance to the new shed so didn't want to bother with the extra work, so I was looking at the 4 remaining wheels left after putting the fronts on and couldn't see any differences in them.
I did find out after the event that they are the same.
Just turn one around from the other.
Anyway, this is useless info I suppose to those that know but this is for those that might be interested.
It dawned on me that if you were stuck in the middle of nowhere and had a front wheel blow out there is no reason you couldn't use the outer rear for the front to keep you moving till you could get the punchure seen to.
Getting back to the case at hand, I did make a first up mistake and didn't allow for the bolts you can see in the first picture to sit in the hole of the rim.
You know when you make that mistake because the rim doesn't sit hard back against the drum.
Anyway, she is ready to move.
