I saw this bus in a yard at East Seaham this morning.
Sorry it's so far away.
It looks like an AEC, and a rather longish body.

Why is it that we can see any number of pre fifties d/deckers but when it comes to Sydney based predecessors to the 31 seaters they are basically extinct.
Bob Gioia
Melbourne half cab
Anthony Christie
I do believe that is Glen Richards ex 442.
Norman Julian
The next question is what does a typical predesessor to the 31 seater look like
Norman Julian
Graeme Knappick might have a photo of one in service.
Brian Blunt
Norman Julian the 31s replaced an assortment of AEC, Albion, Leyland and Dennis half cabs.
A couple have been preserved
David Oaten
Here's 444 (ET-444).
If this is actually 442 they are identical and two numbers apart.
They are fantastic and good looking Buses
Norman Julian
Were these before the 31 seaters in the Sydney district?
John Clarke
I just knew that if I put the pic up...........
Norman Julian
I'm sorry if I have created an issue
John Clarke
Not at all!
I saw the bus, we came to a (comparatively) screaming halt, and I told my wife that there would be people interested, and I needed to take a pic.
She didn't believe me.
She does now!
Norman Julian
I have always been curious to know and see the buses that were around prior to the 31 seater.
Here we are years later and I still don't know.
Seen oodles of deckers of every shape and denomination but no single, so shut me up and show me something.
hehehehe
John Clarke
Interesting though, that a Melbourne half cab can find its way into the wilds of east Seaham!
Anthony Christie
442 had it's desto glass missing and had red undercoat everywhere too.
Glen Richards where did 442 go?
David Oaten
Norman Julian this is a Melbourne Bus.
Much more handsome than a 31 seater!!
Norman Julian
David Oaten All do respect these are the only half cabs that appeal to me.
Robert Stevenson
Norman Julian something about that style appeals to me.
Interesting look.
Adrian Spencer
I noted the roofline of a double decker coming down the range from Hotham about 55 kms from Bruthen Vic
