One of the jobs today was to make ready the shroud to mate with the main radiator when I get back all the parts that have been sent away for cleaning.
I wasn't happy with the Regal badge and when years ago my first atempt was to paint it.
The surface after years of leaving it deteriorated it and it looked awful.
This time I sandered the surface with a flat block and used 60g paper and worked it down to a 400g finish.
The black paint I ground off with my dremel machine.
I masked up the silver part and then painted the middle matt black.
I'm happy with the result. Mounting it on the grill is a little tricky.
All 4 screws that hold it in position can only sit in one position.
I over the years I have seen lots of photos of where this badge sits and I think I have it approximately correct.

Going to make a real statement on the front of the bus
Gregor Neil Robertson
Absolutely first class.

Nothing like a chromed Regal or Regent grille like this. Fabulous and you've made it beautifully smart.
Norman Julian
John Lidstone apparently the AEC badge is wrong but only very few would know!

Norman it looks to be an enamelled replica, yes, but originals are very much of the hens' teeth variety.
Again, always secured with flat-head screws (I do understand the need to rivet these days).
Norman Julian
This is original.
It is apparently off a lorry and not a passenger vehicle.
Garry Coxhead
Wow that looks great
Graham Inskip
That is superb Norman...I doubt it was this good when it was new.

Are you going to do a fully badged black radiator shell? That would be fun

the pictures above show the finished radiator shroud.

Narrow desto boxes and L7 logos with fleck masonite upholstery would go perfectly with that.

Update on the radiator.
All but the top and bottom tube frames and tubes have been cleaned and blasted.
Update on the tubes.
95% of them were blocked up.
I'm finding the TD5 tubes are pretty bad as well.
The photos show the parts that were cleaned and blasted compared to the ones that weren't.
