Discussion on what will fit in shed -June Building
- Norman Julian 22 Jun
- I have been thinking for a while about building another shed to house 3 buses.
- The only thing has been the height.
- I need to have it around 5 metres because I am on the look out for a decker.
- Not an ordinary decker it has to be rare.
- There are too many Opptys and AEC getting around now so there has never been any incentive to do one up.
- They are out there.
- Just have to find it.
- Carle Gregory
- how about an Aleutian or however you spell or say it (y)
- Norman Julian
- Atlantean?
- Carle Gregory
- yep thats it, had i rie on one up here a few years ago
- Norman Julian
- No! Way too modern and way overpriced.
- They are not rare.
- Carle Gregory
- I like the pnumocyclic gear change the one i saw had
- Norman Julian
- Semi auto
- Carle Gregory
- the local bus company at the time (Bayside Buses) had Hinos with electric form of this
- Norman Julian
- This is more what I had in mind
- Carle Gregory
- gee talk about manhandling a vehicle, armstrong everything
- Norman Julian
- Not much difference between that and the AEC I'm affraid.
- Hard work driving.
- The trouble is that we have become too soft these days.
- Andrew Blacklock
- Pommy decker
- Scott Wilson
- OPD 1 at Lightning Ridge.
- Norman Julian
- TD4 Scott.
- Scott Wilson
- TD 4 at Wellington.
- Norman Julian
- Really!
- Carle Gregory
- any excuse for another shed is a good excuse
- Brian Blunt
- I did some work on a TD4/5 back in the 1970s.
- ISTR that it was quite pleasant to drive
- Norman Julian
- If I can find something that I can leave as my legacy it will make me happy.
- I will also leave the Leyland and AEC 31 seaters.
- Andrew Blacklock
- don't worry mate I will look after them for you
- Scott Wilson
- Get in line Andrew Blacklock!
- Gary Russell
- What about a OPD chassis that had been bodied as a single decker due to policy changes being completely re bodied as a double decker?
- Anything come to mind?
- Norman Julian
- Andrew Blacklock suggested one of these. LOL\
- Andrew Blacklock powered it with a P76 V8 mate. lol
- Norman Julian
- Double jeopardy there.
- The bus and the P76 purists would have my head if I did that.
- Scott Wilson
- OPD1 1819 at Lightning Ridge.
- Scott Wilson
- OPD1 1783 at Lightning Ridge.
- Norman Julian
- Blinded by the light
- Scott Wilson
- Still has front canvas door !
- And runs.
- Norman Julian
- What's the story with it old son?
- Norman Julian
- Blinded by the light
- Scott Wilson
- Call ya later.
- Norman Julian
- Another night old son.
- Going to bed soon.
- Had a big day
- Brian Blunt
- An Adelaide Daimler or Melbourne Leyland would be something to aspire to
- Norman Julian
- Something interesting will come up one day. I'm not in a hurry
- Norman Julian 27 Jun
- I got the ball rolling today.
- Looking at a shed 12m x 10m x 5m. That will house what I want.
- Scott Wilson
- Room for a ring in or 2 ?
- Norman Julian
- 12m deep gives me enough room for an underfloor if warranted.
- Alan Routh
- Go 15 deep, youll want to add storage or a bench at the end later
- Norman Julian
- Already have a shed 12 x 12 and a carport 10 x 9 mate.
- Have to draw the line somewhere.
- Alan Routh
- Ah well in that case...
- Norman Julian
- I have changed it again. You can blame Alan Routh.
- Alan Routh
- That was quick.
- Ill send my consulting fees in the mail
- Norman Julian
- Just increased it to 15 x 12 x 5
- Alan Routh
- What are you doing norm, full lockable shed or open front barn or just a roof?
- Norman Julian
- It will be roller doors at the front with a mullion separating them.
- A door in the side and closed in. Gable roof.
- I will put my own windows in. It will be wide enough to take 3 buses and long enough to take an underfloor if warranted.
- It will be high enough to take a decker.
- If the roller doors are too low than I may change them to hinged doors.
- The carport isn't good enough protection for long term storage because it is open.
- The AEC has cost a lot so far to this stage and it needs to be protected properly.
- Andrew Blacklock
- Can't have enough shed space
