Building March
- Norman Julian 1st Mar
- How's this.
- I received a message from my daughter this afternoon.
- Apparently the guy that built the shed handed her the invoice for building the shed and said that he will be hanging onto the keys until it is paid in full.
- I wont be getting back home to my place till late tomorrow.
- That means that I can't have access to the shed till at least Monday.
- Not good public relations as far as I'm concerned.
- I need to be able to inspect the inside and out before I hand over anything.
- Just as well I have built sheds and also in another life rekeyed locks.
- Graeme Knappick
- Gee that's a bit rough.
- That company sounds a bit stingy & strange.
- As you say "not good public relations ".
- Norman Julian
- You hiccuping Graeme!
- LOL
- David Wilson
- just tell him you'lll be glad to do the final inspection with him present.
- Don't offer to do a bank transfer of funds
- Anton Frank
- Put a lock on your front gate, along with a No Trespassing Sign...
- Does he think your going to run off with the shed
- Andrew Blacklock
- Builders think about themselves only.
- Don Allitt
- That’s normal when building you inspect and if satisfied you pay and get the keys.
- The fact you are not there can hardly be his fault.
- Stop grandstanding and whingeing fix it all up on Monday when you get back.
- Norman Julian
- Well Don you might think like that but if I had that attitude with my customers I don't think it would go down too well.
- I have never experienced that before and I don't think it's a good look.
- Afterall the shed is built and not much he can do about it so with that attitude it just pisses me off .
- If you think that I'm grandstanding though we'll that's your opinion and you are entitled to that.
- Don Allitt
- Unbelievable, next time you go to Woolies tell them you are not going to pay for the goods until
- you take them home and inspect them.
- If all ok you will direct credit their account.
- You need to check with dept of fair trading about your rights before you start bagging tradesmen.
- Gregor Neil Robertson
- Frustrating!
- Ah well think yourself lucky, boy.
- The Siberian snowstorm here has kept me from my playpen for nearly a week.
- Deep drifting snow.
- Everything shut, no buses, roads impassable.
- Minus 4 deg last night and fingers inoperable! Trying to persuade my Mrs to emigrate to Oz, if you have a job as a tea maker and floorsweeper for me so I can get a visa.... she’s too many family here. Another winter like this and I’m off....
- Philip Tumber Gregor
- Neil Robertson sign up for the BBC TV program "Wanted Down Under" and get a week on OZ for free !.
- Gregor Neil Robertson
- Philip Tumber i would do a runner, go to ground and not return!
- Our road (Tranent to DUNS) closed with snow gates!
- Freezer is being raided.
- Melted snow instead of milk
- Sam Hawkins
- Let yourself in and take photos of the inside & send them to said builder.....along with a critique of every little thing that will need to be fixed before payment.
- Don Allitt
- You people are amazing, do that and you will be charged with break and entering.
- The shed does not belong to Norm until it’s paid for.
- Norman Julian
- Since when.
- It's on my property and I have the receipt for the shed.
- There was no contract written up for the building of the shed so I find your comments strange.
- Gregor Neil Robertson
- Oh gosh I hope this blows over quickly and you get into your giant playpen Norman.
- It sure looks good.
- Sorry you’re stuck with a stroppy contractor.
- Every barrel has its rotten apples.
- James Leonard Garrod
- Drill the fucking lock out Norm, as you stated you own the shed, the slab and the property and you have the legal right to every part of your property.
- The builder has a legitimate claim for any labour monies owed but Does Not Have any Legal Right to deny you access to and/or restrict your enjoyment ofany part of your property.
- The builder is obviously playing some sort of 'power game' with you so drill out any locks denying you access to Your Shed and deduct the cost of replacement locks from his invoice.
- Mr Allitt sounds like a disgruntled tradie but is obviously not all that versed in matters such as this, one would also wonder if his opinion would be the same if he found himself in this exact, same position?
- Norman Julian
- Well after a month it's finally finished.
- Basically happy with it so far.
- Norman Julian 7th Mar
- Started moving stuff over to their new home.
- I am not happy with a discovery I found when moving the jacknife doors.
- I think you should be able to see in the photo.
- Stuart Brown
- Haven't even had it a week and you are running out of room already
- Put the three buses in there with the parts and you won't be able to move
- Time for walls on the Carport too? ....
- LOL
- Norman Julian
- They are awkward things to store.
- This is only temporary.
- Just wanted to get them out of the other shed.
- It will be a little tight on either side but I can put the 2 end buses a little closer to the middle bus if needed. Building a wider shed even if it is only a metre adds thousands to the price.
- Gary Russell
- Waiting room
- Maxwell Mcroberts
- I would slide off those seats, that`s just me.
- Norman Julian 9 Mar
- Tomorrow the buses will be going into their new home.
- David Wilson
- you and Marea better crack a bottle of Moet
- Marea Julian
- Now that is something I can do!!
- John Lidstone
- well done Norm......what's the Frog Museum to be called?
- Sidney Rea 9 March
- I drove those out of Brookvale Bus Depot in the 80s
- Norman Julian
- Welcome!
- John Clarke
- 80s?
- Norman Julian
- I would have thought they would have been all decommissioned by the eighties.
- John Clarke
- They were.
- Graeme Knappick
- Yes 29/8/79 were their final run.
- Anton Frank
- Haven't seen a happy hand on a bus or truck in years.
- Norman Julian 10th Mar
- I want to thank Peter from "Orange Heavy Towing" once again for shifting the old girls to their new home.
- His rig makes short work of a job like this.
- Gregor Neil Robertson
- We did wonder.
- It would have required a gang of 10 strong men and a crate of beer to move them!
- Norman Julian 10th Mar
- I'm happy with the decision to do this.
- David Wilson
- could be Burwood Depot in 1953
- Norman Julian
- I always thought I was behind the times!
- David Wilson
- the only way to be
- Anton Frank
- I like the aesthetics, double decker in the middle, and the two smaller buses either side, with the doors slightly lowered accordingly.
- Am I thinking too deep here
- Norman Julian
- Steph said the same thing.
- Anton Frank
- You can tell we both do photography.
- David Wilson
- Reminds me of the movie Mon Oncle when the blinds of the house were like eyelids
- John Lidstone
- Now THAT is doing things properly - as, if I may suggest, you do in everything you do.
- Well done.
- And what a trio!
- Chris Dempsey
- Norm and his three kids AEC Regal III,Leyland TD5 and Leyland OPD2/1 all in there new bedrooms
- Norman Julian
- I call them the rarety triplets.
- LOL.
- Steve Hardie
- 3 wise Busses
- Steven Parrinder
- Well done good see them undercover.
- James Leonard Garrod
- I bet you've set up a chair and just sit there with a cuppa admiring this vista - I know I would.....
- Gregor Neil Robertson
- Yes indeed.
- A dream come true.
- Carle Gregory
- might have a photo of a double decker form 1948 shortly
- Steven Parrinder
- Well done good see them undercover.
- Stuart Brown
- Looks cool...
- But you might find it easiest to put the one you are working on in the middle as it will give you more room..
- Brian King
- Looking Good nice and neat Norm
- Brian King
- I was wondering how you back them in without an Inspector guiding you .... ha ha ha ..... so it was the very good Orange tow truck man and company .
- Good on ya.
- Charles Shipway
- Wow how’s
- That Shed Norman you should feel pleased with your self to be undercover now
- David Wilson
- the little Leyland looks very pleased with itself
- Bernard Sharp
- Awesome
- Robert John Hood
- Excellent work Norm and Marea.
- Adrian Spencer
- Norm looking at the area are you going to be able to work on the buses.
- May need to build another shed with space
- Garth Taylor
- Great fit
- Graeme Knappick
- Nice!
- Andrew Blacklock Awesome
- Steve Maher
- All you need now is some old Depot signage out front
- Gregor Neil Robertson
- Now you got a life!
- And those buses have guaranteed long life!
- Utterly spoiled!
- Charles Shipway
- Like the set up looks great !!!!!
- Carle Gregory
- WOW it look like a bus depot now... how about a sign out the front with "On the Buses" hehe or Luxton depot
- James Leonard Garrod
- Wot a Luverly sight, Guvnor!
- Bet you're happy as a Pig in Muck now.....
- Greg Gibson
- The busport must be empty now.
- Hmm what to do with all the extra space
- Stuart Brown
- Walls... And some concrete
- Carle Gregory
- room for a hpoist now for the Land Rover and Marina
- Garry Coxhead
- Looks great
- Norman Julian
- Thanks to Peter Livermore from Orange Heavy Towing for shifting the old girls to their new location.
- His huge rig does it so easily.
- Mark Ellery
- Its a credit to you both
- Norman Julian 11th Mar
- She hasn't been this empty since she was built.
- I can finally put my trailer under cover.
- Now there is a spot for you Scott Wilson
- Adrian Spencer
- What about the other bus norm
- Norman Julian
- What other bus.
- Adrian Spencer
- The mobile storage shed
- Norman Julian
- You just said it.
- It's a mobile storage shed.
- A lowly leyland Leopard.
- Norman Julian 16 Mar
- I have been busy this week pouring a 4m x 4m slab for a water tank and making a large bench for my wife's aviary and this bench.
- When cutting new bus panels and repairing old ones which can be quite large you need a large working space at waist height to work on.
- This one is 4.8 metres x 1200mm.
- It is slightly larger then the other one.
- Charles Shipway Norman
- I like the time you put into the detail fabricating benches and tools etc to make life easier for your self plus save time using them to help save putting strain on your body and son
Norman Julian 24th Mar
Last essential part arrived this morning.
I Have to plumb it up and next summer be ready for any fire threat.
I have too much invested inside this shed.
- Charles Shipway
- Good to see the tank in place Norman good luck with the plumping
- Gregor Neil Robertson
- And keep all scrub, brushwood and flammable materials well away from the shed - inside and out.
- Gas and fuel tanks in a separate location - the way the military do it.
