I received back the new waterpump shaft for the bus.
Pictured here is as follows.
The top line of parts going across is the old parts.
The bottom line of parts are the replacement or updated parts that are for this pump.
The pump was improved upon around 1956.
Unfortunately, the impeller that is pictured bottom has been modified at some stage so I had to get a new shaft made (pictured) around a millimetre larger to take the new impeller.
There are 2 new bearings, felt washers and a redesigned seal.
Now I have to press-on the bearings, etc.

Finished at last.
Was a challenge but now all's good.
New seal and both bearings, as well as a new shaft.
I was quoted around $1,000 from one place. Did it for $350.00.
The most valuable thing is I learnt how to do it myself.

Great job Norm.
Saved you a lot of money, you have great talent not everyone would give that a go.
Norman Julian
Fred Holland I don't have the money to splurge anymore!

I just had a thought.
I kept the old AEC belts and the length is perfect.
Not sure about the thickness though.
It doesn't fit the whole "V" of the pulley.

The idea that Leyland had with adjusting the tension on the fan belt is far better than AEC.
The AEC idea is like the old cars.
A bloody screwdriver between the engine and alternator and pull on it etc.
The Leyland on the other hand is a turning knob advancing or winding back a thread.
You can see in the picture.

Finally what seems like forever, the waterpump is on.
I had to get some 32mm hose this morning to connect these 2 parts together.
I need to get a part number for the fan belts and see what I need to do for rubber mounts for the 2 forks that hold the radiator on the frame.
There wasn't much left of the old ones when I took off the radiator.
If you have been following this group then you know I restored the radiator some time ago.
Norman Julian 21 Feb
After a few attempts at getting the right size belts they are on.
The next challenge is the radiator rubber mounts.
There are 2 forks that hold the bottom part of the radiator in position.
There are 2 "top hat" style rubber boots that are on each fork.
The ones on this bus are well and truly.
Not likely am I ever going to get a suitable replacement, so I will see if I can get a rubber hose with the right dimensions that will fit.

Could there be a suspension bush out there that might work.
They look similar to the lower wish bone bushes on my Austin.
Phil Steele
Very clean engine👍
