- A question for someone.
- The decker on the left is a typical post war and the one on the right is prewar.
- Why would the post war have a emergency door release right next to a hop on hop off platform, whereas the prewar has a fixed window which does make sense.
- Stuart Brown
- More room to get out...
- Looks great lit up like that...
- Mark Spencer
- Wow.
- Doesn't it look great at night with the lights on.
- Just love it.
- Norman Julian
- I'd bet those single deck AECs were the predecessors to the later 31 seater frogs.
- Ben Summers
- Filmed by Russell Waddington, the footage shows the company moving to Granville in 1937.
- May I please share this to Old Sydney Album, Norman?
- John Clarke
- Ben Summers, that's where I found it!
- Norman Julian
- Of course buddy.
- I have shared it.
- Chris Dempsey
- The single decks were AEC Regal and Double decks were Albion Venturers
- Lee Hall
- Brilliant.
- Bet that decker looked great with its brand new panels and paint
- Mark Spencer
- What a great video.

- I'm paying a visit down to the Bus Museum tomorrow to see a few familiar faces and to inspect the 1937 TD4 that is part of the collection to get some ideas for this project.
- Specifically, I want to see the rear emergency door bottom hinges to see how they were attached to the frame.
- Because there was nothing left of the bottom of the window frame I want to get a better understanding on how it was done.
- It will be nice to just look at these wonderful machines and admire them.
- John Clarke
- I live much closer than you, and, to my shame, have not yet been.
- Norman Julian
- I hate going to Sydney so I don't get down there very often.
- Brian King

- John Clarke
- Norman, your TD5 doesn't seen to have the canvas concertina side door.
- were they fitted, or did yours have one fitted, and removed later?
- I well remember them in Newcastle when I was a child, although I don't know whether they were on TD5s or not.
- Norman Julian
- Just guessing John but they may have come along in later models.
- John Clarke
- I'm sure someone will tell us!
- Brian Blunt

- 1438 - sold 10/60 to J.Steiner Coonamble NSW then to Pilliga near Dubbo NSW as shed then retrieved by Leyland Synd HCVA Tempe 3/96
- after sitting in the same spot for 35 years ( it has been replaced by AEC Regent 111 ex 2451) it is now awaiting full restoration
- Norman Julian
- There is quite a lot of work to be done by some lucky person or persons.
- Mark Spencer
- This looks very much like yours
- Norman Julian
- Yeah Mark! It is the same.
- Like mine it needs a lot of love
- Norman Julian 30 Jun
- I have solved the problem of how I will make new body panels using the the same method they used back before the war.
- These photos are from the Adelaide Daimler d/decker being restored at the museum.
- The panels you see are new and done by the swaging method.
- Norman Julian
- I will be taught properly but it is a press with roller jigs and when you place a flat sheet of aluminium in one end and turn the handle depending the size of the jig or roller you use it makes that crease or steped effect you can see in the photos.
- The same principal as a can opener, but not cut through.
- Norman Julian
- Thanks buddy
- Norman Julian 30 Jun
- Nothing to do with mine but an absolute beauty anyway.
- An AEC Regent. Just some of the shots I took today.
- Sidney Rea
- A very nice job well done
- Laurence Glenn Bowmaker
- OH....that is beautiful.
- Norman Julian
- Yeah sure is.
- 2 pak.
- The only way to paint these days.
- Norman Julian
- Buses used to be hand painted by either a roller or brushed.
- The guys were that good at their job that unless looked very hard at it you would not see brush strokes or roller marks.
- There is conflicting opinions on how these old buses should be done.
- I myself had thought that I wanted my buses painted the same way they used to do them, but over time and what I have seen and information I have picked up, I'm going to use 2 pak.
