- Centre door was quite common in some parts of the UK at various times.
- The operator with the longest name, Stalybridge,Hyde Mossley and Duckinfield Joint Electricity and Traction Board (AKA 'The Joint Board') had a thing about centre doors during the fifties.
- The forward entrance ovetook the centre entrance meaning the driver could watch and operate the doors.
- Accelerated by the move to rear engined buses.
- One of the main problems with front and centre entrance 'deckers is the difficulty of incorporating them into the lowbridge layout.
- Only with advent of the low height bus, like the Bristol Lodekka, did the front entrance really become popular.
- Norman Julian
- Very interesting Jane, thanks.
- Anthony Christie
