With this design I had to take the rear wheel arch off sooner then I wanted because the wheel arch panel folds under the arch and the guard goes over the top of it.

Can't help feeling a little disappointed with the amount of rust in such a small section so far.
I had high hopes that I could do small sections like getting the headlights and rear emergency hatch and route number done which I have done over winter and get her on the road for short trips around the Orange area and even have trips out with "Albert", but unfortunately I don't think she is roadworthy.
There is one section where 4 different supports intersect each other and they are floating in the breeze.
Well now that this has been discovered I have no choice but to do it properly and not just a passing glance.

Like any restoration, its like opening a can of worms, but the end result makes all the heartache worth while.

That has not stopped you before Norm.

Well I decided to bite the bullet and started actioning things.
We have here the replacement rear side destination box.
I also had a go at the panel that goes on the horizontal rear emergency door hinged area.
I simulated the beading effect with a folding press after I got the initial angles right.
It will be easier to make this panel using steel.
Once painted no one would ever know.
Because of where it is steel is a much tougher option.
I needed to do this so I can get the back of the bus done and move on.
Also because I have limited space and don't want too much stuff in my way.

Adrian Spencer
How are you doing the bending Norm.
Sending it out to be done, or using in-house tools
Norman Julian
The short stuff is being done next door.
He lets me use his press.
The longer stuff (over 1.8) is done in town.

I’ll take the original side desto.
box off your hands.
Norman Julian
OK Steptoe!
Graeme Knappick
Norman Julian I’ll give it a clean and stick a desto. in it.
Norman Julian
I have a theory about you Graeme Knappick!
I reckon all of these bus parts and panels you are collecting you must be making some sort of uniquely creative diabolical mongrel Frankensteinian 4 wheel thing that carries passengers.
LOL
